We Will Overcome!

Let me start by saying that this post does not come from a point of anger but from being frustrated with the way my people are treated as a whole in this country. I will state the obvious by saying that we are in tumultuous times in America. As a nation we are in complete and utter disarray, Why? You have to be completely off the grid not to realize that our leadership is the worst it has ever been and by voting Donald Trump into office we have wiped out lets say 50 years of advancement in our country. As a nation and those persons who are in control are guilty of turning a blind eye to what we call for the lack a better phrase "social injustices" to Africans in America since the year 1619 in Jamestown, Virginia. I am not laying or placing all the blame for the problems that exist in the United States on Donald Trump, he is just an example of all the things still wrong with our nation. The problems of bigotry, classism, and racism have and will exist in our nation until people finally have the courage on both sides to acknowledge they in fact exist and come up with viable solutions on how we overcome those issues and heal the land.

I laughed when Donald Trump was elected President Of The United States because I knew that he would unearth the lowest of the low in our society who would allow him to say and do whatever he wished in order to win. What President Barack H. Obama was to black America, Donald Trump would be the same to those white Americans who still to this day cannot stand the sight of any race advancing past their own. You and I know that his single goal was to obliterate all the good that was done under President term. I then started to just sit back and pay attention to the evil words and display of ignorance as well as the hateful and spiteful and downright disrespectful rhetoric that was coming out of this man's mouth almost daily. The reason he won was not because he was the best candidate, it was because he was going to be the voice of those persons who hated President Barack H. Obama and what he represented to become their leader.

As a black man in America, I had to ask where did this hatred come from? Where did the deep disdain for the color of my skin come from? Why as a black man am I relegated to being considered in many cases a 3rd class citizen in the country that my forefathers built? Why can't I be afforded the same opportunities as my white counterparts? Why do I have to accept a lesser way of life because I am black? Why are my brothers and sisters shown no love in the country that is labeled land of the free and home of the brave? Why do so many of my brothers have to be killed for what is a routine traffic stop from the law enforcement that takes an oath to serve and protect and rather see's my brothers and sisters as expendable and kill my brother and sisters in cold blood? Adding insult to injury no charges are ever enacted on those in law enforcement who forego their oath to serve and protect the citizens of the cities in which they work? Why are my brothers and sisters judged by who and what they are on the outside instead of who and what they are on inside?

Why must the man that is supposed to lead our country and all the citizens in the United States of America think of my brothers and sisters as a "Son of A Bitch" rather than a man or woman who is brave enough to take a stand for what is right, rather than being a coward and hiding? I prayed to The Almighty God for answers and the response I got is; Fear. People fear what they do not understand. We as a people are accosted, arrested, beat, denigrated, fought, hung, killed, murdered, oppressed, persecuted, undermined, and victimized because of fear!  Those persons who say cowardly words and do cowardly acts towards my brothers and sisters know one thing, we are the chosen race of people who God has his hands on. The fear that those persons who have been oppressed for generations will finally rally against the oppressors and take control of their minds and take the blinders off their eyes and create a movement that will change the known status quo.

Fact is, Truth is for 398 years we have been removed from our homeland(Africa), dragged across a vast ocean, sold, enslaved, families separated, hung, killed, our women have been raped, Jim Crow Laws enacted, basic civil rights violated, assassinated, jailed, beaten, placed in impoverished cities, left uneducated, segregated, called a nigger, spit on, and jailed. For What? You could ask the question what have we done as a people to deserve this? What if I told you it was all apart of Gods plan? The silver lining in all that was given to me in a vision and that is in life we are going to have those persons who have to go through the fire, hung, killed, persecuted and prosecuted so that God can show his people that we will rise! When we as people come together as one we can can speak to any mountain in the way of our destiny and move around it, and through it to continue on the path that God has predestined for you my brothers and sister. Yes the road to success is never going to be easy. Yes the road to freedom will have martyrs.Yes we will meet challenges and obstacles that try to make you quit before you have completed the necessary tasks that are essential to being all that God wants you and I to be.

We have to rejoice that A Black Man from humble beginnings was made The President Of The United States. There are more black millionaires that ever before. We are the top performers in any sport we play. We are CEO's of fortune 500 Companies. We are the owners of businesses that contribute mightily to society. We have our own Colleges and Universities. We have our own banks and lending institutions. We have our own car dealerships and small businesses. We have our own magazines and newspapers. We have our own TV Networks. We are now movie producers and leading actors on the small and big screen. We are now authors and bloggers and motivational speakers. We are now judges and lawyers. We are now drinking from the same fountain, eating at the same restaurants, living on the same street, driving the same car, shopping at the same mall, vacationing at the same destinations, and flying on the same airplane. Slowly and surely we are on the road to now becoming the head and not the tail in a society that created laws just to keep us oppressed. We are rising and there is nothing stopping God's plan for our people once that switch has been turned on.

What if Colin Kaepernick decided not to answer the clarion call to take a stand for what he knew in his heart of hearts was not right. What if President Barack H. Obama did answer the clarion call and decide not to run for public office to enact change and give his people, my brothers and sisters hope. What if Martin Luther King Jr did not decide to answer the clarion call to lead a non violent cause that gave his people in 1964 the Civil rights we were due as citizens of the United States. What if Medgar Evars, Ralphe Bunche, Whitney Young, Daisy Bates, Diane Nash, Julian Bond, John Lewis, Malcolm X., Angela Davis, Stokely Carmichael, and Rosa Parks did not answer the clarion call and take on the establishment that created laws designed to oppress our people. What if I did not decide to write this post to tell you that even when we are called the lowest of all lows in terms of how people feel about myself as well as my brothers and sisters who decided to take a stand against social injustices that it does not even matter.

I will leave you with this: Please know that what someone says about you and I
does not determine our destiny....God does.

  1. Wow! This post is powerful. It reminds me when I was once told " you are not what they say you are." I believe when people believe the negative stereotypes they are given, it helps them that fear minorities gain power. Once someone has your mind they have control over you. That is why it is very important to encourage our youth and remind them of how wonderful they are so when they are grown they will KNOW they are great and NOT what society says about them.

    1. I agree, I was so upset at what Donald Trump said about the NFL players being SOB's because we all know the league is majority black. Then I had to find an abstract way to look at what is going on in America and realize that those feelings come because the powers that be have tried so hard to do one thing: suppress our voice. The caveat is that no matter how hard they have tried the powers that be have lost every battle. So it is up to our generation to carry that torch that has been dimmed and empower each other against the negative thoughts and feelings that are in the hearts of those persons that mean to do us harm. Thank you for your thoughts

Give Thanks To The New You!

There is an important lesson that everyone will have to learn. Bad things happen to very good people. Furthermore bad things will come! There will be a time in your life that you will find that you will be fighting for your very existence. There will be a time where you will question your very existence. There will be a time where you want to give up. There will be a time where you do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. There will be a time in your life when you question if there is a God. There will be a time when you ask the question: Why is this happening to me, God? There will be a time when you almost lose the faith. There will be a time when you wonder how much more can I take? There will be a time when you say to yourself: Why Bother? You have to know that everything we go through has to be met with this thinking in our mind: What lesson is God trying to teach me? What is the purpose of this difficult time in my life? Will I come out on the other side of this trying

Your Calling: Will You Say Yes?

When a man misses what he feels to be his calling, what are the lingering effects? I was talking to a co-worker of mine and I brought up the fact that he looked lost. My co-worker replied that it is so funny you feel that way, because I do feel that way. I had this perfect life planned out in my mind where I would play college football and that would translate into me being drafted to the NFL and playing wide receiver and living out days as the best wide receiver in the history of the NFL. I dreamed of buying my mother a home on the beach, having a nice home for myself, an extensive amount of money in the bank and a beautiful wife and beautiful children. My calling or dream has been deferred due to the severe leg injury I sustained playing football in college and now I do not know what I am doing. I do now know whether I am coming or going. I have no 1 year, 5 year, or 10 year plan in place for my life. I have no one I can talk to, I have no one I can tell my story to. All I can do
