Being A Father: An Example To Your Son, A Hero To Your Daughter

What is the definition of being a father? There is an old adage that states "Anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a daddy!" A father, better yet a good father can and will have an immense impact on his child's life. A father's work is both endless and more times than not less rewarding than that of the mother of his child, but that is not what God made the father for, he made the father to be the status quo setter for his children as he has to be an active participant in order to see the fruits of his labor.

The adoration and love that the father shows his children is important. It is important for the father if married to show affection and love for the kids mother. It is important to instill the values that you want your children to follow for the rest of their lives. For the son, he will see his future in you.

When it comes to your son, he will want to do everything that his father does. Your son will ask questions, follow in and out of every room, jump on you, ask you to play sports when you are tired. You are going to be in most cases his hero, his superman, this requires you to lead by example. Your son will come to you on advice on how to deal with girls, on how to shave, on how to drive, on video games, on fashion, and money matters. Your legacy is passed on through your son, You as the father have to impart in your son the knowledge and wisdom needed to succeed in the game of life. Spend quality time with your son. Show your son what it means to be a man, show your son what it means to educate himself, show your son the importance of having a job, show your son the importance of managing his finances, show your son how to provide for his family, show your son how to treat women right, show your son how to love.

When it comes to your daughter, you will have to deal with this truth: YOUR DAUGHTER WILL MARRY A MAN THAT IS JUST LIKE YOU!!! Your daughter will throughout her life, choose a man that best represents what she has seen in the first man in her life. The father is his daughters first true love. You daughter will call you to say "Dad you are the best Daddy in the world" , Daddy I love you soooooooooo much" ,"Daddy what are you doing", "Daddy do you like my outfit", "Daddy do you like my hair"? This list is endless and guess what, the answers that you give will make or break her, Your daughter is looking to you for approval, Your daughter is looking for you to tell her the truth, Your daughter is looking to you to be her support system,Your daughter is looking for you to be the shoulder she can cry on, Your daughter is also looking for you to be her bank account and not in a bad way. You will also have to deal with this truth: Yes you will have to support your daughter until she either becomes financially independent or married. I implore you to do the following: Spend quality time with your daughter. Show her the way, take her out on dates, show up for the daddy daughter dances, talk to her, listen to her, open the car door and every door that you see, tell her that she is beautiful, tell her that she is special.

Not being a father aka Absentee Father aka Deadbeat Father, should not be an option. Become A Part of your child's life, IMMEDIATELY! It is never too late, there is no expiration date on when you can and cannot be a father. Call your children, tell your children you love them, tell your children you miss them, tell your children they are perfect, tell your children they are your greatest achievement, tell your children they are your greatest creation, tell your children they are your world, tell your children that you will do everything in your power to make them happy, tell your children the truth, never lie and never break your promises. Most of all just be there for your children. I have learned that children are resilient and most of all forgiving, they will not understand the in's and out's of why you weren't there but are willing in most cases to give you the chance to repair the relationship that was once broken.

To the new father's, There is no Father's Guide or Manual that you can Google or subscribe to. You will learn over time through trial and error on how to be the greatest father that you know how to be. You have to be the protector and provider for your family,  and you will have to do whatever it takes to protect and provide for your family. You will have to show your son and your daughter what it means to be the man your son wants to be and the man your daughter will give herself to. Show your children what it is to love and what it is to love unconditionally. Show your children what it is to be loyal and what it is to be loyal. Teach your your children how to be courageous, how to be honest, and conduct themselves with proper etiquette.  Educate your children because you will be their primary source of knowledge. Challenge your children to be the best version of themselves, let them fall while being their to pick them up when they fall and let them know that one day it will all make sense and everything will be okay. Be your son and daughter's Rock of Gibraltar, be the person your children can come to when things go wrong as you will learn WILL HAPPEN! Support them and the life your children choose to live. Let them know that you will be with them every step of the way. Most of all just be a father, the reward is greater than the initial price you will have to pay.

We Will Overcome!

Let me start by saying that this post does not come from a point of anger but from being frustrated with the way my people are treated as a whole in this country. I will state the obvious by saying that we are in tumultuous times in America. As a nation we are in complete and utter disarray, Why? You have to be completely off the grid not to realize that our leadership is the worst it has ever been and by voting Donald Trump into office we have wiped out lets say 50 years of advancement in our country.  As a nation and those persons who are in control are guilty of turning a blind eye to what we call for the lack a better phrase "social injustices" to Africans in America since the year 1619 in Jamestown, Virginia. I  am not laying or placing all the blame for the problems that exist in the United States on Donald Trump, he is just an example of all the things still wrong with our nation. The problems of bigotry, classism, and racism have and will exist in our nation until pe

Give Thanks To The New You!

There is an important lesson that everyone will have to learn. Bad things happen to very good people. Furthermore bad things will come! There will be a time in your life that you will find that you will be fighting for your very existence. There will be a time where you will question your very existence. There will be a time where you want to give up. There will be a time where you do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. There will be a time in your life when you question if there is a God. There will be a time when you ask the question: Why is this happening to me, God? There will be a time when you almost lose the faith. There will be a time when you wonder how much more can I take? There will be a time when you say to yourself: Why Bother? You have to know that everything we go through has to be met with this thinking in our mind: What lesson is God trying to teach me? What is the purpose of this difficult time in my life? Will I come out on the other side of this trying

Your Calling: Will You Say Yes?

When a man misses what he feels to be his calling, what are the lingering effects? I was talking to a co-worker of mine and I brought up the fact that he looked lost. My co-worker replied that it is so funny you feel that way, because I do feel that way. I had this perfect life planned out in my mind where I would play college football and that would translate into me being drafted to the NFL and playing wide receiver and living out days as the best wide receiver in the history of the NFL. I dreamed of buying my mother a home on the beach, having a nice home for myself, an extensive amount of money in the bank and a beautiful wife and beautiful children. My calling or dream has been deferred due to the severe leg injury I sustained playing football in college and now I do not know what I am doing. I do now know whether I am coming or going. I have no 1 year, 5 year, or 10 year plan in place for my life. I have no one I can talk to, I have no one I can tell my story to. All I can do
